Already thinking about NYE?

I think we're going low key this year for NYE, since we'll have spent several days celebrating the New Year at DisneyWorld (with a four-day weekend in Chicago the next week). We've let some friends know that we'll be having wine and tapas at our place on the early side, and we're planning on ringing in the New Year at one of our local favorites, like SubZero vodka bar or Brennan's.

But I'm thinking I'll need to find an excuse over the next couple of weeks to order this killer statement bib necklace by L.A. designer, Malin Nyman-Smallcombe:

I'm completely fascinated by it... it's not a bronzed baby shoe but an entire bronzed baby leg. Why a baby leg?

My fiance knows I want it desperately... so I'm hoping he'll surprise me with it!

It is just magnificent. I love how black is completely taboo for a wedding dress, yet the beadwork and floating butterflies lends a romantic, fairy tale quality to the gown.

Jamie Wolf moonstone earrings

I have been obsessively wearing my new Jamie Wolf earrings since I received them. I've been wearing her designs for a few years now... I just love her delicate style! My two other pieces have a delicate floral motif with small, white diamonds. I think these very simple moonstone and 18k yellow gold earrings are a perfect addition to my small collection:

You'll notice both Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis wearing her pieces on the red carpet while promoting Black Swan. The designer, Jamie Wolf, was a professional ballerina with the New York City Ballet for a decade before deciding to become an exclusive fine jeweler. But random fact from the Barneys blog: she also is one of the ballerinas used in the production of Black Swan!

Right now, you can only find her pieces in select boutiques (mostly in New York) and through Barneys. Her pieces are expensive, but I can attest to her pieces' quality and beauty. I get compliments on her pieces all the time.

Pantone declares color for 2011: "Honeysuckle"

I guess you could say that I'm tickled pink...

Pantone named "honeysuckle" (a very bright, strong pink color) the official color of 2011. Everyone needs to get in touch with their inner Lisa Vanderpump-Todd.

Most people underestimate my love for color, since I wear neutrals almost daily. But when I want to be noticed, I'm not afraid of using strong color to get it. Most people feel like pink is for little girls and bimbos, but I think there is no stronger color than a beautiful bright pink. My theory is this: you have to be a very confident person to unapologetically flaunt pink.

I'm that girl at the gym in obnoxiously coordinating outfits

I got a new outfit from Lululemon for Hanukah. I'm already living in the Define jacket:

I also received matching pants with an aqua waistband to wear with it to the boxing gym. They're being hemmed by the Nashville store and then shipped to me in St. Louis. I should receive them before my next session with Trainer Jim.

The jacket has thumb holes sewn into the sleeves. For my Chicagoan readers and other sub-Arctic audiences, I think the solid black Define jacket would be a really cute layering piece under a short wool coat.

Major opportunity for my Brits: NEXT model search in Birmingham

Because NEXT model agency just emailed me that they will be scouting for new talent at the CLOTHES SHOW LIVE 2010 in Birmingham NEC, December 3rd-8th.

This is the first time that NEXT will have teamed up with the UK's biggest fashion and entertainment event as an official model scout.

They're optimistic they'll find the next Alexa, Alice, Abbey, Anja, Karlie, Leah, Ruby, Shingai, Lola, Tali, Petra or VV Brown...

Oh, Karlie Kloss... heard of her? She's only that teenage girl from St. Louis (where ABTT is based), that's walked for every major designer, covered half of the pages of American Vogue and is the face of Marc Jacob's Lola perfume.

Since NEXT is a global agency, they will be also flying in scouts from New York and Paris to help pick out the next UK star. One lucky "wanna be model" will have the chance to fly to New York where they will be introduced to the NEXT NYC team and star in a fantastic photo shoot with a top photographer, stylist and hair/makeup team!
